9 Days to Believe
Exploring Faith, Mental Health, and Biblical Wisdom Through the Most Memorable Quotes of Ted Lasso
What if one television show could spark conversations that lead us back to Scripture?
That's exactly what I hope this new series will do.
With the new season of Ted Lasso just around the corner, I've been thinking about why this show resonated with so many people. It wasn't simply because it was funny. It challenged us to think differently about leadership, hope, forgiveness, relationships, purpose, and resilience.
Those are conversations Christians should be having.
So, for the next nine days, I'm taking a brief pause from our theology series to launch something a little different.
Introducing: 9 Days to Believe
Each day, we'll explore one memorable quote from Ted Lasso and ask four simple questions:
What does this quote reveal about the human heart?
What does psychology teach about it?
What does Scripture say?
How can we apply it to our everyday lives?
This isn't a television review.
It's not an endorsement of every message found in popular culture.
And it certainly isn't replacing the authority of God's Word.
Instead, we're using familiar cultural moments as conversation starters that point us back to biblical truth. Just as the Apostle Paul quoted Greek poets to connect with his audience before proclaiming Christ, we can thoughtfully engage with culture while allowing Scripture to remain our foundation.
The Journey
Day 1: Be Curious, Not Judgmental
Day 2: Believe
Day 3: Be a Goldfish
Day 4: Doing the Right Thing Is Never the Wrong Thing
Day 5: Success Isn't About Wins and Losses
Day 6: The Truth Will Set You Free... But First It'll Tick You Off
Day 7: If You're Comfortable, You're Probably Doing It Wrong
Day 8: Second Chances
Day 9: Believe Again — A Reflection on Hope
Along the way, I'll also share pieces of my own journey.
You'll hear about failing my counseling licensure exam and what God taught me through disappointment. I'll share why leaving a stable career at FanDuel to pursue graduate school and become a counselor was one of the hardest—and best—decisions I've ever made. And we'll discuss how those experiences have shaped my faith, my counseling practice, and my understanding of God's grace.
Every episode will include practical mental health insights, biblical teaching, personal stories, and a challenge you can apply that very day.
My prayer is that these conversations don't just encourage you—they help you become more emotionally healthy, spiritually grounded, and deeply rooted in Christ.
Whether you're carrying disappointment, wrestling with fear, questioning your purpose, or simply looking for hope, I believe these nine conversations will remind you of an unchanging truth:
Our confidence isn't found in ourselves. It's found in Christ.
Thank you for being part of the Rooted & Real community. I'm excited to walk through these next nine days together.
Grace and peace,
Keenan Crowley
